I have a direct connection to the Web Control with my computer (not using a DHCP server). I set up my IP address to 192.168.1.1 per the documentation and I am unable to establish communication. Any suggestions for troubleshooting my problem?

I am unaware of any version of the instructions that state to set the IP address to 192.168.1.1.
The instruction say 192.168.1.15

See page 4 of the current version of the manual:
Host NetBIOS Name: NetDev
Host IP address: 192.168.1.15
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP address 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS server 192.168.1.1
Secondary DNS server 192.168.1.1

Out-of-the-box, the WebControl devices I've configured (five instances) were set to use the address provided by dhcp. In this case, you need to determine what IP address was dished out by your dhcp server.
If you turned off dhcp in the WebControl, the default address is still 192.168.1.15 ( not x.x.x.1) So try 15.
Note that if you are actually using a "direct connection" and not through a hub, you may need to use a crossover cable (RX and TX pairs reversed) .

Hope This Helps ... Marc

The WebControl board I received had DHCP enabled, so it wouldn't have worked with a direct connection. Try it on a network with a DHCP server.
