Centralite Jetstream with Omni Pro II

Hello!
I am currently installing a Centralite Jetstream system and interfacing with an Omni Pro II via the RS232 bridge. Has anyone else installed this system and interfaced with an Omni Pro II? If so, do you have any pointers? From a quality control standpoint I am finding this company to have some serious issues. I first ordered the Pro Pak and they did not ship the usb stick. Next I ordered some relay switches and lamp modules and they sent me the wrong items. In addition, I plugged in the lamp module and then pulled it out of the outlet and one of the prongs pulled out of the housing! Also, the lamp module kept sparking when plugging into an outlet. Has anyone else experienced these problems from Centralite products?

Thanks

I have the Pro Pak and some other JetStream items, but I haven't even opened the box yet. I do have a 24-load LiteJet system in my home since 12/2007. I've been very pleased with the quality and reliability of the system. I've only had it hiccup once. A couple of months ago I came home and turned on a light that was brighter than I have it programmed to be and it was flickering. Turns out this was the case with all the LJ loads. I reset all the breakers to the LJ and that corrected it. Otherwise, flawless.

I did read some that there are some problems with the keypads in the JetStream system. Apparently they are working on a redesign that will hopefully be field installable. I'm waiting to see what happens with that before deploying JetStream.

BTW, I use Elk M1 and HomeSeer for my interface to the LJ.

Good luck,

Kevin

You can buy the Pro Pak both with and without the USB stick, so I could see the potential for error there. But did you buy direct from Centralite? I'm not even sure that is possible and you should blame your distributor for any mix up with the wrong product being shipped.

That being said, it doesn't speak to the quality control issues you have seen with the actual product. Please keep us informed how that turns out. I haven't gone down the lighting system trail just yet, but I am seriously considering JetStream when I do. So I am very interested to hear about future problems or solutions/resolutions that you experience with this product.

Thanks for sharing!

I purchased the kit from Worthington Dist., but the kit was dropped shipped from Centralite. So yes, the kit was direct from the manuf.
I will keep you informed.

Thanks!

I have 41 Jetstream devices working perfectly. They have already fixed the problems with bezels and can provide replacement which can be upgraded in the field easily. I had one switch go bad which they replaced. I have not interfaced with my ELK, but I am using the RS232 bridge to interface with my URC remotes.

I'll be glad to answer questions.

Hello and Happy New Year!
I had a couple of days off from work and decided to finish my Centralite Jetstream lighting project, but have hit a wall.
Here is a little overview of what I have so far:

Omni Pro II with running firmware 3.2d
Brand new Centralite RS232 bridge
USB Programming stick
The correct serial adapter and cable
Single and tripple button Centralite Jetstream dimmers
Centralite Lamp modules

I have connected the serial adapter to the RS232 Jetstream bridge to the assigned serial port 5 on the Omni
I have named the devices both in the Centralite programming software and in PC Access on the Omni
The lighting formats have been assigned on 1-12 to Centralite
All configurations have been uploaded to the Omni

My problem is this:
The Centralite switches will not respond to commands from PC access or from the Omni keypads.
I have rebooted the omni several times, but with no success

The lamp module works perfect in my programming. I just have a simple programming block that states when my electronics closet is not ready to turn on the light and vice versa.

I can blink the all of the lights from the Centralite programming software and have updated all of the devices, but nothing will work from the Omni. I am sure it is something simple that I am missing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again!

Joe

Joe,

First make sure that "Serial 5 Function" under Setup | Installer |Expansion is set to "Centralite". Then make sure the "HC x Format" under Setup | Miscellaneous is set to "Centralite" for the relevant units. Verify this at the console, not just in PC Access. Any changes made in PC Access need to be written to the controller. Verify that you are using the 36A05-4 Serial Connectivity Cable to connect the Omni to the Centralite system. Verify that the transmit LED on the serial port blinks when you send a command to the Centralite system.

Hi Brian-Thanks for the fast reply.
I am using the 36A05-3 Serial Connectivity cable, would that make a difference? I verified all settings in PC Access and thru the keypad-everything is set accordingly and the controller has been updated. The Centralite RS232 bridge does blink on the Transmit LED when a command is sent, but the light(s) still do not turn on. I am going to order the 36A05-4 connector from Worthington to rule out the serial connection.

Joe,

You have the correct adapter. The 36A05-4 Serial Connectivity Kit includes the 36A05-3 adapter and a 7' modular cable. It's possible the adapter is bad or that a wrong modular cable is being used. I would expect the transmit LED on the Omni controller board and the receive LED on the RS232 bridge to light when a command is sent. The RS-232 bridge may reply to the command to report the light level. Unit 1 on the HAI controller corresponds to address 1 on Centralite, and so on. Make sure you are using units 1-n rather than starting at a different "house code".

Hi, I am in the process of installing about 20 switches, etc. I've noticed that you have to press fairly firmly on the single switches. Would a replacement bezel effect this? How do you go about getting replacements?

Thanks, Craig

Hi, I am in the process of installing about 20 switches, etc. I've noticed that you have to press fairly firmly on the single switches.

I don't know anything about single switches, because I never saw the benefit. I think three-button switches are only slightly more expensive, yet they provide the opportunity for far more control. Even if you don't know what you would use them for now, you can always figure that out later. I guess the advantage of one-button would be that you you don't need to be as precise as to where you push.

Can't say for sure, but I would imagine so. From what I understand, the final replacement bezels are not yet available, but should be soon. I plan to monitor this forum and when they become available, I will call Centralite. They have been good in the past about fixing problems.

Have fun. Jetstream is fantastic.

It certainly should, that's the reason the new buttons are being designed. I am in touch with Centralite and I should get some of these new buttons to try as soon as they have a finalized one. I will post my impressions and instructions for getting them as soon as I find out.

Patience Craig, I've only been pushing and waiting for 9 months now

Steve - have you heard anything more about these new buttons? I'm starting to think that I'll jump to the Jetstream system instead of going down the ALC path I had originally envisioned. Any gotchas about this system that you can think of - the only ones I've heard so far are with the button presses and with the CQC driver not being 100% right now?

I was just thinking I should check this thread to see if there any updates. Other than this issue, I love the Jetstream.
