colors for strobes

I was wondering how to properly use the colors in strobes. Is there a particular color to use for certain alarm system, alarm types, residential vs commercial etc...

I purchased some orange one thinking blue would be more police, and red fire. Orange seemed in between.

First thing is to know your local state codes and what is allowed. If this for exterior use I would first determine what your local will allow in terms of color(s).

If this is for the interior use, than it comes down to preference.

I have a clear high output strobe mounted high at the roof top in the front of my home. This strobe can be seen from 180' from side to side and is visible from more than 5 miles away when activated.
