Hi-
I'm in the rough in stage of a new house project and need to make a decision regarding a home security system, cameras/DVR, & doorbell video intercom systems. From a wiring point of view security systems are fairly generic and I believe that if you run 22/4 & Cat6 everywhere you should be covered no matter what brand/type of system you choose now and in the future. My question is two fold. 1) Is there a pretty Honeywell like 6272CV touchscreen LCD compatible with the Elk M1 and 2) is there a bolt on "doorbell video intercom system" that would take advantage of such touchscreen? I understand that I would need a two way audio controller in addition if I wanted to converse with the door to door salesman but I was thinking more about grabbing video from an outside camera and displaying that on the LCD keypad when the doorbell was rung. It seems to me that security systems are stuck in the pre Internet era (probably for very good reasons) and that making a doorbell video system work through this technology is most likely not recommended. My goal is to avoid having several non-integrated systems running in parallel and/or 3 keypad/touchscreens per station throughout the house.
Thanks in advance
