Compression BNC Connections

Does anyone have any particular suggestions for Compression BNC connectors? Make/Model?

I am looking to order in a decent quantity so something like Radio Shack or Home Depot is probably not in my list of options. Likely something on the scale of 50-100.

I'm curious, drvnbysound - what are you using the BNC's for, if you don't mind my asking? Patch panel?

Not many users of BNC's here, despite the superiority over F-connectors.

I use F-Conn compression fittings and they work well. Worthington has them for $7-11 per 5 pack (depending on wiring size needed). That is about the same price as their RCA or F-style connectors.

ICMFS59BNCU for RG-59 size
ICMFS6BNCU for RG-6 size
ICMFSBNC15RGB for mini coax size

You can also get BNC to RCA or BNC to F-style adapters. I used BNC to RCA adapters on my matrix switch so that I could use standard RCA video and audio jumper wires rather than having to custom build all my wires. But if you have to buy a compression fitting anyway, you might as well use a BNC when needed.

Drvn - since your background is in car audio (mine too in a former life), do you have an account with DBL distributing? They're a good source for those. Steren RG59 BNCs are around 65 cents.

No I dont have an account with them, but I have seen some of their product literature in the past.

I was more so worried that someone may have had a bad experience with brand X, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I assume that most all compression BNC's are as good as the next companies...???

If they're actually a compression (rather than crimp) connector, then all the ones I've seen are fairly similar. The biggest issue is to make certain that the fitting matches the wire. Mixing RG59 with RG6 or quad shield with non-quad will create lots of problems. Also, make certain that your compression tool has an appropriate adapter for BNC fittings. Some lack proper clearance for the center pin and will crush or deform it.

I think ICM-Cable Pro makes the best Compression Connectors in the business. I use the DB System which is more o a commerical grade. They also have a high end AV version too. If you want to check them out take a look at this YouTube video of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuWN4oK8neo...re=channel_page

I hope this information helps!
