Connecting cameras to HAI Omni Pro

Hi,

Could someone please suggest an alternative to HAI Camera server that has been discontinued to connect 3 analog cameras to my HAI Omni Pro II.

Many thanks

EverFocus ECOR264-4/9/16x1 Provides mjpeg for the 5.7e AND they have a very nice iPhone/iPad app.
thank you.. but I think it may be best to just buy a whole stand alone DVR system with 4-8 cameras at Costco for half the price of EverFocus system.

Costco has full systems with 500 Gig DVRs at around $300!!!

I have turned my Linux CCTV box into a hybrid analog and IP camera server.  This said I am still using the Omnitouch Video hub with the older Omnitouch 5.7 screens and the IP pieces with the Omnitouch 5.7e screens.  The mobile Wintel, Android and Iphone stuff has been always included in main software; not really an option per say; but rather a feature of the base software.

That and I introduced the use of a Grandstream decoder/encoder to convert multiple IP views to one analog view on the Omnitouch 5.7 screens. IE: so today I still see single analog Omnitouch CCTV views plus one screen is just multiple IP HD camera views; mixing both HD IP and older analog cams still on line.  I can put all of my IP cams IP addresses right into PCA for Omnitouch 5.7e viewing or use the NVR IPs doing the same.  Only difference is that its only one IP configured for multiple cameras or multiple IPs of different IP cameras.

Thing with the Costco deal is that you are purchasing a propietary embedded system with little options other than what is being provided by the MFG of said box.  But if it provides you with what you want relating to the integration of your HAI panel; then go for it.  The older HAI server analog to IP server was a rebranded Axis server. (an apples and oranges comparison here).

DEL I have to disagree a bit.  I think your old saying still holds water but not nearly as much as it used to.  Margins use to be a LOT larger on a lot of these camera brands.  Now you have China driving the margins down and bringing new players into the market.  Of course some are plain crap, BUT Swann, etc have some great cameras for the $.  Check out

Some great examples and he has everything form Acti to Swann and beyond compared.

And honestly, the average home owner doesn't need Mobotix.  Heck even 5-10 years ago the average home owner would be lucky to do better than analogue cameras where you couldn't count on face recognition.  Now those options are available and storage space becomes more a concern!  That's progress!

We weren't talking IP here.

When you're a HO spending $100 or sub $100 for a camera, the performance isn't going to be there....it can't be. When I'm spending 3X that amount for an analog camera at trade, one begs to ask what is the difference?

Optics, image chip, heaters/blowers, housing....lots of items. You can attempt to compare apples to apples and get the specs to match (LOR, lux rating, lens, etc.) and I can tell you it's not just a markup or marketing ploy for many of these units.

I've put in HO specified cheapies...you know what, when they die (often) usually it comes down to what is a direct replacement (usually nothing) and how long did they really last and what was the performance out of them. If the end user is OK with compromising performance for price and reliability isn't paramount, so be it. If they get luck with a unit, great, but generally there's a reason why the units are cheaper and it's not just because it's a generic or unknown manufacturer.
