CQC on sale

This is a great deal! I have been waiting to get into the CQC group for awhile now. Dean is this deal going to be up for at least the next week or two or do we need to jump on this immediately?

-_- (Beelzerob in Post 15)

Sorry, sometimes I am triple tasking and just reply really quick without organizing my thought totally. But yes, it is an 'outrageously' great deal!

In fact, Dean, do you have a 4 year lowest price (even from yourself) guarantee? If so, I need some $$$ back. ;) (just kidding of course, but that's how great a deal it is)

I can't say how long it will last. Until 3.0 is ready to go is the only limitation. It won't be in the next week, but I can't say how long it'll be.

Hmmm,

Dean's explanation will push me to look more into this software. I didn't realize it costs so much, but it sounds pretty robust. I used to do a lot of work in CarPC's so I know how much work it is to make a skin/template. I can only imagine how much more involved it is with H/A, since there's a ton more hardware

Heading over to the site to look it all over now....

Thanks again

I'm a bit confused. I want to jump on the CQC bandwagon at this great pricing. But, I don't want to install 2.X just to learn 3.0. How do I time the sale so I purchase at $333 but not have to wait six or nine months for 3.0 to be released? Is there a way to pre-pay but not have the license start until the release of 3.0? Also, to those who have known me for the last four years, I'm still alive I've just been busy with other things.

Thanks,

Robert

Dean can answer that, but based on the fact that he's now working on documentation which he always does last while folks are banging on the beta, i'd be surprised if it's "months", i'm expecting "weeks". Obviously there's always last minute bugs/etc, but at this point the first beta was out on 7/1/08, with a large beta release on 11/28. It's pretty damn close to being "fully baked" (not the BSR definition of baked, either  )

You'll get a full license at the $333 price. You can decide if you load up the last formal release (2.64 or something like that) or if you load up sny of the beta versions. Either will work and will allow you to upgrade to the full 3.0 version when it is formally released. As long as you pay for the yearly upgrade fee (the 1st year is included in the $333 price), then you'll get the normal upgrades (and any beta releases) without any problems. 3.0 will clearly be released within the next 12 months, so you are covered there.

I guess nobody knows the answer to this...

I am in the same boat as others....been ready to jump on the bandwagon...but busy installing ELK, ALC and all that other good stuff.

Just about ready to start on the 'software' portions. I had planned to get the 1 month trial of CQC and then buy if i like it, but my concern is that the official release will drop within that month and i wouldnt be able to take advantage of the deal.

I want to have my cake (do the 30 day trail) and eat it too (get the great price). Any suggestions?

Is there a 3.0 BETA out there that I could get if i 'bought' now? As per the previous posters...I don't want to mess with a lower version if the changes are that significant, having a potentially buggy BETA versions for a few weeks/months is ok with me. I guess with the documentation not read it will be a bit messy to learn 3.0 based on earlier documentation...not sure how much is fundamentally different as far as events, triggers and GUI design and such?

Yes: CQC Beta

I suggest you start playing now - you may get most of your testing / trialing done before the release. As sic mentioned, you can get any of the prod or beta versions, so yes, you can test the beta of 3 as a trial. But I believe the betas are still labeled 2.something even though it will be 3.x at release.

I think there might be some confusion...

If you buy a CQC license, you have access to (and can install and run) ALL versions of CQC, from now 'til eternity (with the yearly fee thing sic mentioned above). So, if you THINK you were going to get CQC, then you really should do it today...as in right now.

Once you do that, you can then go to the website and download the latest official version (which is 2.something) and use that. Then when 3.0 is officially release, you simply install that over your existing install and off you go.

You can also go to the website, install 2.something (dunno if you actually have to do that first), and then go to the beta thread and install what will very soon become 3.0. And that way, when 3.0 really is released, you can install that over your 3.0beta install, and you'll get whatever other minor fixes Dean added between the time you did your install and 3.0 was released.

But either way, the $333 includes all older, newer, future, etc versions of CQC. Again, you have to pay the yearly maintenance fee to get the "lifetime" updates, but the first year is included in your purchase price (and Dean is also offering a big discount on that yearly fee right now too, if you have the money to pay it up front).

Hope that helped....essentially, if you want CQC, then there is no logical reason not to wait. The release of 3.0 isn't a new "product" you have to wait for....it's just all CQC.

So, to 'splain....there is no time, let me summup... you aren't buying CQC 3.0. I know most other software products out there do sell their new version as though it were a new product, different from all their previous versions. Dean doesn't do that. Instead, the sale right now is on CQC, and the sale is prompted by/in celebration of version 3 being released...that is all.

I think there might be some confusion...
That explanation helps regarding the versions and licensing. My only real concern is will I get a cludgy install by going from 2.X to 3.X beta to 3.X release version? And for a first timer should I not do anything but install, waiting for the official release version or, does the 3.X beta have the newer interface so I don't have to learn twice?

ok, ok...somebody give me a hand to help me climb on the wagon...

I'm succombing to peer pressure and will be buying today...my credit card was just paid off so that calls for a celebration..
