Good evening folks. First off all, Happy Holidays.

Can someone please recommend an inexpensive curtain motor that I can control using my Elk M1?

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know any brands other then Makita which is what I have. It is controlled simply with 3 contact closures. One for open, one for close and one for stop.

Any device which is similar, that is to say, controlled by contact closures could be controlled from ELK relay outputs.

Is it possible to control the motor like telling it how much to move? I'm thinking of using the curtain motor to do some masking for my projector screen.

If you are not interested in long-term reliability, check out the add-a-motor. It hooks up to your drapery string and runs on 12V. Ignore all the references to using X10 modules, etc. All you need to do is switch on 12V and it runs, switch it off then on again, it reverses. Over time it will slip and you may have to readjust the physical stops, but it is cheap and easy to install.
