Hey all,
Just wanted do some shameless self promotion for my DIY home security system. I'm documenting the development of it on my blog at http://yzf600.dns2go.com/blog.
Basically I have a networked main board (Atmel ngw100 avr32 microcontroller devel board) with all the sensors plugged into it. It has the ability to open and close my garage doors and send me emails when events happen. I also have remote touch screens to interface to the alarm (nokia n770 tablets off ebay). It even has a web interface that allows me to control and view it from the web, including my cell phone. I just love opening and closing my garage doors from my cell phone. (I'm such a nerd).
I'm going to be documenting the system in more detail once I get closer finalizing the development.
BTW - I estimate this whole system (minus my hours of working on it) to cost around $400.
