So here's my issue. When my builder trimmed everything out, he jus drilled a hole in the frame and pulled the wire through fortwo of my sensors. i have the tang micro recessed mags. I tried to see if there is any play in te wire so I can feed it back in after connecting the mag, but there isnt. im thinking im going to have to take the trim off to get the wire fed back in. any suggestions?

The problem is that the hole isn't large enough to push the switch back into? Also have not heard the brand of Tang Micro. If the problem is too small of a hole you could (whittle) enlarge it with a small wood tool. Or - they do make special drill bits that can drill with wire already in the hole.

Maybe in this one location, you could use a larger sensor, within an enlarged hole, that could hold coiled wire?
Are the walls painted? Would it be difficult to remove the trim, fix the problem, put back the trim, recaulk?

its not that the hole is too small, its just right for my sensor. the issue is that the wire goes through 2 2x6's and then through the trim. i am unable to push the wire back into the hole for some reason. i dont have the link off hand, but they are tane micros (sorry for the confusion). i think im going to wire the sensor then pop the trim off to see if i can grab the wire and pull the slack back into the wall. there just isnt much room after adding the connectors. i might just solder this connection instead of using the telco gel filled connectors, or purchase the sensors that you can screw the wire into the back instead of connecting to a flying lead.

Try loosening the trim board (pry it away from the door frame). You will have to remove the casing (trim board). My guess is the hole in the door jamb is not in perfect alignment with the hole in the 2 x 6 causing the wire to be stuck. This may allow you to push the excess wire back into the wall cavity.

In my house they sprayed expanding foam thru the door and window frames. Really made it tough trying to get the wiring tucked back in.
Does the wire go up on the other side of the studs? If so, maybe you can get a long, thin screwdriver (with a couple of layers of tape on the blade to "dull it"), put the blade against the wire where it changes directions (turns upward), and use it to "pull" the wire back into the wall cavity.
Was the wire stapled to the stud right above where it goes horizontal thru the wall?

I agree. Use a razor knife to score the varnish where the casing meets the door frame, then use putty knife to get behind the casing to pry it out a bit, then switch to a prybar. I've done this many times without damaging the casing or frame. It is easier than you think.
You probably wont need to remove the entire piece, just bend the bottom part out a bit to get room to work. Then you can see what the problem is and probably find an easy solution.

I had a similiar issue in the beginning of Jan. The house had been prewired for an alarm. The inside of the metal door frames were adjacent to cement. When I pulled the leads out I couldn't push them back in. I ended up cutting the leads a bit shorter and chiseling the concrete a bit being careful with the wire using a small thin screwdriver. I used the same said screwdriver to help me push the wire in to the sensor.
