DVR: synchronized mult cam playback?

I am looking for my first real security DVR and had a question:

Do all of them offer synchronized playback of multiple cameras? If not, who offers it and what do they call it?

To clarify, if I had a 4 channel DVR, with 4 cameras, I would like to be able to watch a playback quad split of all 4 cameras at once. It seems like this would be the easy way to watch a perp/child/pet/babysitter move around your house/business. I would assume you would have to use continuous recording to make this watchable, although it could be kind of cool to watch a quad split and have some sections just go black/blank when there is no motion at that camera.

The Vitek model does it, the cheaper ones at our local BJ's support it as well, so I think this is almost a basic feature most units offer. The ones that do offer it specifically mention it. Vitek calls it 'Quadplex' for the unit I reviewed, but I don't think other manufacturers use the same name.

The Techvision and IC Realtime units all offer it.

I thought Triplex, quadraplex, pentaplex refer to how many functions it could do simultaneously. What would you call a unit that could do synchronized playback of 16 channels?

examples:
Quadruplex Function - Simultaneous Record / Playback / Network / Backup
Pentaplex function: live, recording, playback, backup and remote access
