Electric water valve to fit between faucet and hose?

Anyone hear of such an item? It would have standard 3/4" hose fittings on either end.

Would be for temporary use, not a permanent irrigation solution.

Thanks guys.
Pretty funny. I was going to search for 'poor man's...' or entitle the topic the same.
This will work.
And, I'll stay away from the other as recommended.

If you stick with a major brand like Orbit, Rainbird, Irritroll, or Toro you will be fine. BTW, if you need any help just yell!

Our hardware stores have this kind of stuff in abundance here in Las Vegas!

Actually, I've had pretty good luck with the Orbits mentioned above. Oh well... everyone has different experiences.

Whatever you decide to do DONT BUY THIS:

I had several valve failures. They use a little pin type valve, and the gasket seems to give out or the pin gets stuck and they are not repairable.

I think this is a different Orbit valve than their standard sprinkler type that I used in the How-To. The kind I used was 24 VAC activated and had 'flying leads' for the connection type.

Yes, BSR, it is a different valve than the one you used. The one in the Smarthome link is a cheaper product. And that's the one I have here and have had good luck with so far (2 years+). I have 7 valves and two controllers. I'm putting them out again shortly. We'll see how well they do this year!

I'm having a heck of a time finding the adapters. An online search only yields Watts themselves so I've dropped them an email for a retail source.

I could try getting them for you here if you would like. Let me know, this weekend would actually be a good time as I'm always in the hardware store then.

Thanks BSR.
Just got off the phone with a Watts rep firm. They said to check with a local plumbing supplier. Let me try that before I inconvenience you.

Hi Jay;

I can hook you up as all the parts are stocked here at Lowes Hardware store (just a few minutes from my house).

PM sent back to you.

BSR

Thanks for the idea!!! I have had an occasional problem with a neighborhood dog, and this set up along with a directional water sprinkler seems to be the cure!;) A small alarm from a EagleEye, and a quick push of C7/ON, and the problem disappears down the street!!!
Thanks
