Elk 150RT Siren Whining Problem

New installation, with 150RT siren on output 2.
Global 26 is set to voltage.
The siren functions OK on alarm.
The trouble alert functions OK if the siren is disconnected.
The non alarm voltage is around two volts at output 2.

The siren has a low volume, high pitch whine present at non alarm times.

Any ideas how to fix this? What is the problem?

I had the outside horn on my M1 start cherping and Brad at ELK said to put a resister across it. But it quit befor I got it done and have not heard it start again, That is a regular horn.

Yea, I posted to the Elk site too.
Brad suggested one, then two resistors to bleed down the supervising voltage. Didn't help much.
My siren placement is close to a walk path, so what is a problem for me, may not be an issue for a gable.
I am considering gutting the siren of the driver board and driving the speaker direct from the main control.
Seems like a win-win, but I don't know why an Elk siren doesn't peacefully exist with an Elk control.

Well, yes, sort of.

When I received no further response from Brad over on the Elk site, (after asking whether or not I would be better to gut the siren), I figured that no answer, may have been my answer.

The siren driver sits neatly inside, cut that puppy right out, wired direct to the speaker, changed global 26 back to use the siren driver in the ELK unit itself. I now have siren and voice output. All seems fine.

Excellent solution! I too bought the siren at first but after further reading realized I'd be much happier with the speaker. Resolves the buzzing problem and ensures that your indoor and outdoor sirens are in sync - kind of a nice option (until I threw a couple GE screamers in the mix to totally randomize the ear piercing noises inside my house)...
