Elk and RC2000

Having trouble getting the Elk to recognize the HAI RC2000 stat. The message on the keypad is "not enabled". Not sure exactly what that means but I am connecting it to a serial expander with an a address of 2. It enrolled okay but I have noticed something different from my other expanders. The LED stutters every other blink instead of just blinking steadily.

The stat is set to address 5 which is required if the address on the expander is 2. All wires are have been double checked to make sure they are connected to the proper terminals per the Elk expander instruction and the jumpers are set correctly as well. Using the data bus hub so termination isn't an issue. The stat is set to progam mode none. I've followed the instructions from Elk to the letter with no joy. Any suggestions?

Have you triple checked your wiring? What baud rate did you set the XSP to? Did you match this setting on the HAI thermostat?

On the RC2000, do you have a COMM jumper on the inside left corner of the front panel (if you remove the front half of the unit)? Is the jumper on or off?

I didn't even look for he comm jumper since I'd read in other threads it wasn't on the 2000. Well, it was there and when removed it started working. Thanks for getting me to double check.
