Elk Doorbell Detector: rules to use it?

So i got the doorbell detector hooked up to a zone in my Elk m1. It works because i can turn on chime and press the doorbell and here the chime. I tried a rule in elk: whenever zone 17 (doorbell) becomes not secure, then speak doorbell detect. It never speaks. Anyone?

I never bothered writing a rule for mine, since I hope to integrate it with my whole-house audio and haven't gotten around to it. In the meantime, here's the settings I have for mine. As expected, when the doorbell is pressed, I get two tones and the words Door Bell over the Elk speakers. Works every time.

HTH,

thanks...what does the fast loop response do?

It's a settable response time. It sets the time it takes to respond to a trigger. I have mine set for 40ms, so even if someone quickly presses the doorbell, it will register as not secure and trigger the desired action. IIRC, I had to play with the response time so it would work reliably.

Did you turn the chime off? I don't think it can chime and speak at the same time. Otherwise, your rule should work fine. One of mine looks like....

When doorbell becomes not secure....and it is dark outside....then announce (doorbell)...then turn on lights on the front porch, driveway and front hall for 5 minutes.
