Elk M1 audio line-in?

I could have sworn there was a way to do a line-level input on the M1, like if I had a second machine running automation software I could use the same Elk speakers to play the audio.

Is this possible, or am I on drugs?

You'll need some form of amplifier; Even Elk's little Elk800 (I think?) amplifier will do the trick - then you hook it inline with the speakers already connected to the Elk. You can use a relay to switch over or leave them connected simultaneously; there are some long lost docs about using a 10uF capacitor on the speaker leads as well.

I use an Elk124 inline with my Elk speakers so I can record my own sounds - it's pretty fun.

I don't use the capacitor...

That's a better way to go *if* you appropriately power the amplifier and mixer. If not, when the house is in full alarm and the power to the mixer/amplifier die, you lose interior alarms.

Output 2 is still connected to dedicated sirens.
