I am not aware of any videos. I do love my Elk M1 because of how I have been able to integrate it into a number of different aspects of my life but to get it where I wanted it required a fair bit of tinkering.
The stock built in voice I found to be very hard to understand (as did my wife) as the quality is pretty poor.
The voice on the telephone is the same crappy voice but I find it is even harder to understand on the phone but for the odd time I use voice control it works fine.
The beeps on the keypads (we have KP1s, KP2s and the Navigator) aren't anything special. Kind of annoying compared to the more "pleasant" tones of our previous GE Caddx system.
BUT with how open the M1 is, I have set it up with a home automation computer running Elve with Ivona's Amy Text to speech system which sounds great over the 8 or so SP12s we have. Between Elk's rules and Elve I haven't found anything I haven't been able to accomplish. Our garage doors can be opened or closed with our key fobs, our system can be armed away by keyfob. When someone calls, "Amy" announces the caller's name or phone number. When we set the alarm to away mode it turns down the temperature and turns it back up when we get home. It also tells us who called after we come home when the system was armed away. It turns on and off our Christmas lights including our second Christmas tree in the basement that only turns on when there is motion detected in the room and the time is within the timeframe we want the Christmas lights to come on. The system tells if our doors are locked and can lock/unlock from remote. It now tells us when the doorbell is pushed and will play any sound file we want across our home when the doorbell is pushed. If my wife or kids need to get a hold of me in an emergency, they can push F1 on any keypad and the system will dial me via cellular and I can talk to them using the two-way voice function. The current temperature and tomorrow's forecast gets displayed on all of our keypads. I have an outdoor motion sensor that turns on our lights in the backyard rather than using a regular motion sensor light.
There are many other things the system does that I love but it took a lot of work and money to get it to this point. That being said, I don't think we could live without it now.
