Elk M1 Gold phone line problem

Hi yall.

I have a friend who has an Elk M1 Gold. He sent me this email:

"We were having trouble with the phone in our house and time warner changed out the box and now we cannot get a dial tone because of the ELK. I can plug a phone directly into the time warner box and it works but something with the alarm system is preventing a dial tone in the house. For some reason I seem to remember we had this problem before and there was an easy solution. Do you remember?"

I dont recall the issue or the solution. I am not an Elk guy since I have HAI. Pretty sure this is something in the programming? This phone line worked fine before the change in providers so its not likely a wiring issue right? Anyone have any suggestions? This is THE place to come for Elk!

Does the Elk have the phone line seized? There is a LED near the lower left of the main board that would indicate this.

When they replaced the box, did they reverse the polarity of the line?

I would look at the RJ31X incase there is a problem with that, and the new wiring...
