Is there a simple way to prevent the outside siren from sounding when the CO detectors are tripped? We'd still want the inside speaker to sound. The fire department does not want the outside siren when this alarm is tripped.
You could run the wire through the NC side of a relay and write a rule that says whenever a CO alarm occurs to turn on the relay. That will interupt the wire to the siren.
There might be a way to do it directly from the rules without any relays, but I'm not at a computer with elkrp to check. My recollection is that you can do silent alarms on individual zones by checking one of the boxes in the zone attributes. You can still have a CO alarm trigger a voice anouncement using a rule even on a silent alarm zone. It would need to be somehting like
whenever ever 20 seconds
and zone xx is not secure
speak carbon monoxide alarm
I prevented output 2 from turning on whenever my water sensor would trip by setting the cutoff timer to 0 and then writing a rule to announce there was a water alarm repeatedly a few times. I'm sure the same can be done with CO.
Just checked my elkrp and you should be able to do what I said with silent alarm and the speech. This assumes that the co detector makes the zone "not secure". I don't have any co detectors (electric house) so I can only assume they work the same as fire.
This is how I did my water zones.
But, if you have an empty relay anyway, it might be easier to do it that way and then you would still get the full fledged alarm sounds inside the house. This might be a good thing since CO can kill you and you wouldn't want to sleep through the lady.
