Elk M1: Need motion follower zone but also with night instant triggering

I have an Elk M1 and need to set up a motion detector as a follower (for away) mode, but I also want the motion detector to be an instant trigger for night mode. Any thoughts? Perhaps I should define the motion detector as the follower zone, and then write a rule--when in night instant mode and zone becomes unsecure then.... I can't find anything for the "then" part to trigger the M1. Help.

Yes, I found your post. There really should be a better way to do this.

I know that I can install a relay that will trigger a Burglar 24 hr zone. Then configure my motion sensor as a follower zone. Last write a rule whenever motion sensor is triggered and system is armed night instant, turn on the output that controls said relay. I don't like this setup because I lose another zone input and output.

Why can't we just have the logic in the system for a rule to trigger an alarm?

Cort,
Currently, there is not a Rule that will violate an input through software. You can use one of the programmable outputs on J16 to voltage trigger a zone with an EOL resistor connected to it so that you do not have to use a relay.

A software zone trigger will be considered for the future.

Please do consider this as it seems there are other people who want this function.

I can't think of a good reason to have this, where do you want the motion in your garage?
Close. It is in a walkout basement where there is an alarm keypad at one of the basement entry/exit doors.
