ELK M1 Wireless PIR and Panic button

Hi, I am very new to the M1 (Ness M1 in Australia). I have the M1 Gold with Ethernet and the Wireless option with a bunch of PIR's, Reeds, 4 x Keyfobs and 2 x Panic buttons - All wireless.

I am just starting slowly and building up bit by bit to help understand the system and the rules required.

Firstly, does anyone have or point me to where I might find some example configs for homes I could reference ?

Secondly, I have some issues I cant seem to work out, appreciate any help. With both the Panic buttons, I registered them find under wireless and and set them up as Emergency Buttons but when I press them nothing seems to happen - The KeyFob Panic button works fine and sets off the alarm as expected but I get nothing from the Panic Buttons !!

Thirdly with the PIR, again it registers and seems to work well, then it appears to turn off and stop working after a while. I then need to reset the battery to get it working again.

Reeds and KeyFobs work perfectly.

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Welcome and Happy Easter.

1. There are two good resources to get example M1 applications. First the Coocoontech site...here. Do some searches. Second is the Elk Products web site. Browse the Dealer site forum as there are many questions and answers there. Here is a link to the Application Examples section.

2. I am not sure about this one. You might want to try to use a type 8- 24 hour burglar, and make sure that "silent alarm" is not checked.

3. All wireless PIRs have a battery saving feature built in. This feature is a timer which allows the PIR to transmit only once every two minutes (approximately). Once it trips and transmits, it has to wait two minutes before it trips again. This can be overridden by putting the PIR in test mode. It depends on the manufacturer as to how to do this. On GE models, opening the cover or removing and replacing the battery will put the PIR into test mode for about 2 minutes.

as for your panic buttons how are they configured in the panel? are they a silent alarm, meaning they send a singal to the monitoring company but do nothing in the house.

Thanks - Fixed the PIR's. Needed to remove then re-register in a new wireless zone. All OK after that.

Now for the Panic buttons - I dont have it set up as silent, I read on the Oz Ness formal that some have set up as a KeyFob and works as button 4 - Will try that if I cant get it working.

Thanks
