Elk M1G Announce Violation

I'm adding some outdoor PIRs to my current system. I don't want them to set off an alarm, but I do want them to Announce when they are "armed" and violated.

To be able to "arm" them, I'm thinking I should put them in a separate Area 2. Then, Area 2 could be armed/disarmed with a separate user code. As for announcing violations, should I simply turn on Chime? Or do I need some Rules?

Or is there a better approach?

Thanks, Richard

Set the zone to non-alarm. Then you can create rules to say something when it is violated and the system is armed.

As stated above, set them as non-alarm zone.

But you don't need to write any rules. If you turn the chime on to voice (push the chime button on the keypad once (I think) it goes to voice, then again it just beeps). Also you need to check a box in the zone attributes to enable chime on that zone and you will want to set the words it speaks so you know what is being violated. It defaults to the zone number. Of course when you turn chime on, all of the other zones with chime enabled will start talking to you as well.

Thanks for the replies.

I only want chime when that area is armed, so I don't know if chime alone will do it. I need to wait until everyone is out of the house to play around with it. Testing chimes tends to annoy people.
