Dear Fellows Elkers,

In the ELK-M1KAM literature it shows a Dallas 1-Wire iButton being connected directly to the terminals without need for another device or circuit board. I know that the hobby board temperature sensors will work, but can I just use a DS18S20 with wires connected directly from it to the KAM?

Thanks!

Yes, you can use the DS18S20 with the M1KAM. You'll need to tie the DS18S20's GND and VDD pins together (parasite-powered method) and connect them to the KAM's "iButton GND" terminal. Connect the "DQ" pin to the KAM's iButton "iButton" terminal (the last terminal on the right). The KAM will detect the DS18S20 after a power-up poll and the temperature reading will be associated to the M1G as a keypad temperature. The KAM will poll for the DS18S20 every minute if I recall correctly.
