ELK Temp Sensor Failures

Just over two months ago, I installed an ELK temp sensor in my outdoor weather station enclosure to monitor temperature inside the enclosure. The unit well protected from the weather. The enclosure has a 25 watt heater in it which turns on at 35F outdoor temp and goes off at 45F and is used to melt snow and ice in the weather station's rain collector. The first sensor lasted less than 2 weeks before failing. The replacement worked a little over a month and now it too has failed. I put a scope on the power leads and the power looks clean and I am not seeing any ringing or other noise on the cable connecting the sensor to my M1G. I would like to hear if others are experiencing a high failure rate with these sensors.
