ELk triggers RTI and Verizon FIOS

I am surrefing from an inablity to work through this issue.  I have an:
Elk M1
RTI XP8
Verizon FIOS
SNAP A/V 8x8
 
I would like:
 
A. RTI to sense a staus change of a particular zone of the ELk
B. RTI to Pause FIOS-A
 
 
Seems simple enoguh except I am unable to grasp what to do to get the XP8 to "hear" the ELk status change.  I can send driver commands from RTI to Elk but what do I do to get RTI to receive this status change from the ELk?
