Elk Wireless Zones Questions

I have just installed my M1 with the ELK-M1XRFTWI seem to have successfully enrolled six 6030-P PIRs in wireless zones 17-22. My problem is those wireless zones show up only in the wireless definitions area. For example they do not show up in the Zone definition area or in the walk test area. What have I missed that causes this?

I am using the M1 wireless only for now.

Thank you!!

I highly recommend that you download and install elkrp2, it is much easier to use than the keypad for configuring the system. I have found that the keypad has some functions that RP does not have but RP is a great tool. You will also find that more people here are familiar with RP than with the KP menus.

You will have to register with Elk first but you should do that anyways, their website has a lot of helpful info and firmware updates etc.

Hi Mike,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post. I have registered on the Elk website.  RP is another issue I am having. I have downloaded and installed it several times on my laptop but when I open it I keep getting a message that a file can't be found. I've downloaded and installed RP on the desktop at my office and it works fine on the desktop. I will attempt to successfully install RP on my laptop again today.

Thank you!!

I couldn't get RP2 to run on a Windows Vista laptop that I have here but it is running well on two win7 pcs.

I have an M1XRFTW installed here and may be able to help with your problems when you get RP running. I pretty much use it exclusively and am not familiar with the keypad menus.

Without knowing much about your laptop setup, I experienced similar when trying to run ElkRP as unprivileged user. If you can, log in as administrator or try to start the program with an elevated right.

lleo,

I think you just solved my problem. The program was installed at the administrator level and my everyday user account is not at the administrator level. I was trying to open the program in my everyday user account.

Thank you!!

I just tried opening ElkRP on my desktop with a non-administrator account and got the same message I was getting on my laptop. Thanks again lleo!!!

Mike.
My service laptop (private) is a Vista machine. Have had RP on it for eons. Best I could say is to get the entire install...or in doubt, start with the 1.6XX version and then ramp it up.

I started with RP on an XP machine, in the 1.XX versions and ramped them all up to the latest as they've been released.

The RP issue has been resolved. The program was installed with administrator permission and I was trying to open it with an account without administrator privileges. I must open RP with an account that has administrator privileges.
