Elk ----> X10 comm issue

In the past couple of weeks I have installed a new Elk M1G system with M1XEP. Firmware 4.4.12

One of the main reasons I purchased it was to integrate home security and automation with Homeseer and many X10 devices through out the house. Using Ultra's M1 plugin things are running great so far. I quickly discovered that the M1 was not going to control the X10 devices directly without the PSC05 interface. Rather than create events in Homeseer for each X10 device in the house to work with M1's device codes in the plugin I need to get the right interface.

Well, I picked one up and installed today. I created all the X10 lighting devices and codes (Standard, Appliance/On-Off/Dimmer, etc) with RP and programmed to panel. Unfortunately no go. I cannot get the M1 to turn on/off any X10 device in the house. I wrote several rules to turn on A1, turn off B3, etc., also included beeping the keypads so I know the rules work but no X10 activity.

The LED is lit on the PSC05 and flashes when there is X10 traffic in the house from Homeseer but never when X10 command sent from the M1.

Panel jumper is on X10 2-way, I have tried two (4 wire) straight phone cords, moved the PSC05 to different outlets and nothing. Noise isn't an issue, I tried X10 modules in the same plugstrip as the PSC05 and they work fine from Homeseer.

Am I missing something simple? ;)

Thanks.

I know you mentioned the cable between the M1 and PSC05. Are you using the one that came with the PSC05? I can't remember if you want the straight through or cross-over...

No cord came with the interface module. I made two cords. Straight pin to pin as shown in the Elk installation manual.

The pin out on the PSC05 is:

1 - Zero crossing detect
2 - Common
3 - X-10 output to OEM
4 - X-10 Input from OEM

Was hoping if someone ran into this and had to crossover?

Thanks.

I can't help you out anymore as I don't own an Elk. Did you check the cable pins with a meter to insure proper crimp/connections?

Probably the telephone cable between the PSC05 and M1 is wired backwards. There is a 50-50 chance of being correct. The manual shows a diagram of how the cable must be made.

Look at this earlier forum post: X10 Crossover Cable

I went through this and there should be enough info here to help.

You hit the nail on the head with that one.

I had to crossover. Working great now...

Thanks for the quick replies.
