ELK Zwave

I have an ELK M1 Gold with a M1XSLZW and VRC0P +3. I use the Leviton RF+ Installer Tool to program it all. My zwave components are ten GE/Jasco switches, two Kwikset locks, and two Trane thermostats. Everything has been running great. I used the installer tool to create an area called driveway and assigned two lights to it. I assigned the "driveway" area to button 1 on the vrc0p. Button 1 maps to node 129 on the elk. This too has been working fine. This past week I installed two new GE/Jasco switches. I used the installer tool to include both switches. I optimized the routes and associated them with the VRC0P. Both the installer tool and the ELK can turn on and off all lights independently with no problem. I proceeded to add one of the new switches to the existing area "driveway". I then saved and re-programmed the network. Now every time I switch the driveway area on and off all zwave lights in the entire house go on and off at the same time. Again, all lights can be independently controlled with no problem. I then configured everything back to the way it was and removed the new switch from the "driveway" area. The problem did not go away. Finally out of desperation, I excluded all the devices and started from scratch. Still, same problem. I then reflashed the firmware on the VRC0P and set the network up from scratch again. Finally everything started working again. I proceeded to re-add the new switch to the driveway area. The problem came back. I have isolated the problem to how the installer tool writes the network config out to the network. I can re-create the problem over and over. Obviously this is a bug in the installer tool's code. Has anybody else seen this behavior before or any other strange issues?

I've actually got a VERY similar setup (Elk + M1XSLZW + VRCOP-1LW + GE/Jasco dimmers + Kwikset locks). I am working to configure Areas as well. I actually have an email into Leviton regarding how their Area IDs are determined...

Similarly to what you stated above, the Zwave Group (Area) ID has to be associated with the Elk device ID. I currently don't have any idea how to determine what Zwave Area ID that the Installer Tool software gives to a particular area.
