ELKRMS not receiving log

Made the move over to ELKRMS on my new lappy with Windows 7 64bit system.

Installed it, set it up and all seemed well. That is until the house went into alarm and I went to see what triggered the alarm. Current not there 3500km visiting family and friends for xmas so for via VPN I connected to the M1 system using ELKRMS. When I went to the log page and asked either for the last 20 events or the entire log the system hangs and the program does not respond.

Unfornately I can not tell you if this is the same if I am connected to the M1 via my local network as I have installed ELKRMS whilst I have been away. I can connect with my old laptop via VPN and ELKRM and was able to retrieve the log.

I have unistalled ELKRMS 3 times now and reinstalled it happens everytime at the log request. All other functions work flawlessly! Has anyone else had this occur to them? Is this a known and reported bug to ELK?

Just wondering Dan when you spoke to ELK about the ELKRMS utility setup issue were they aware of this log issue within ELKRMS?

Not sure, I specifically asked them about the other issues you mentioned, not the log issue. If they haven't responded here by next Monday, bump this thread, and I'll contact them again.

Still can not receive a log using ELK-RMS

I can verify that my systems has the following .NET versions installed

.NET Framework 2.0 SP2
.NET Framework 3.0 SP2
.NET Framework 3.51 SP1

The version of Windows 7 is 64 bit.

I have verified the above are install and using a utility that verifies the presence of files, directories, registry keys and values for the .NET Framework. It also verifies that simple applications that use the .NET Framework can be run correctly. I also did a sfc/ scannow and all is 100%. So I am confident that DotNet is working fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled ELK-RMS and still no log. All other functions within ELK-RMS work fine, only the log doesn't work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just tested this (again) on a Win7 64-bit laptop and it worked just fine. Have the original poster look in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ElkRM folder for the file “Events.xml.” What is it’s date/time and size. Double-click it to open it in a browser. Does it load without error and display approx. 120 or so lines? If not, do a Repair install using the original install EXE. If that looks OK, please provide more details – does this laptop work when connected locally without VPN? Does any error message ever appear if left for a minute or two? What if the log is cleared using ElkRP – will it work following that?

Hi Spanky,

There was no "Event.xml" in the folder! I did a repair the Event.xml appeared and it now works fine. Thanks!!

I can confirm I did two clean installs having uninstalled and both times it would not read the log. So I summize that the event.xml wasn't created both times.

I should mention that I downloaded the files ELK-RMS twice and used both files with the same effect.

Anyway all is well.....thank you and the ELKRMS guru.

Regards,

Fleetz
