ELO toucscreen plastic case removal

I've got an 1524 15" touchscreen, and I bought a supporting arm to mount it on, but I discovered that the back of the monitor isn't conducive to using this. The entire touchscreen is encased in the hard plastic bezel/covering, and in the back, there is an about 4" square opening where the mounting holes are. There was a bracket there and I removed it. The supporting arm comes with its own bracket that I'll need to use...but the bracket is bigger than the square opening.

sooo, I've got several options to fix this. One is to fill the gap with a wooden block and go from there. The other option I'd like to try is to remove the plastic back (there are only 2 pieces...front and back) and put the bracket under the plastic, so I can attach to the monitor...and then put the plastic back on over it.

But looking at the back of the monitor, I can only find 2 screws that appear to be related to holding the plastic on. I removed those, and the plastic shows no sign of coming apart. I don't want to destroy this stuff during this process. So, does anyone have a guide to removing the plastic that encases the touchscreen? If it's nontrivial, then let me know and I'll move to plan b.
