Equipment closet cooling

I am thinking my next step is going to be to put a return into the closet and possibly a duct fan to keep air circulating. Probably about a 4-6" line and T it into the main return for the upstairs AC unit.

You should consider putting a damper that allows you to switch from venting the heat into the HVAC return or venting it to the outside/attic. In the summer months you may not want the hot air getting pushed into the hvac system, especially while it is cylced off since it will cause a trickle of hot air to come out your vents elsewhere in the house.

Just to update here, I had an AC guy come and look at my upstairs and this is what he said: The rooms I am using as my office and movie room are additions to the house and when that was done whoever did it did not resize or properly re duct the upstairs of the house. What he wants to do is add a return to my movie room (Just outside the office) and put a teed off vent pumping cold air into the equipment closet. He feels that the combination of proper circulation on this end of the house (The only air return upstairs is currently in the stairwell on the other end of the house) and a little cold air going into the closet should fix my issues for now. The real answer is going to be to get the AC properly sized if/when this unit goes out.

I kind of had a feeling it would come to that. Depending on what the AC re-ducting work costs it might work better to put one of those small split systems in, http://www.mitsubishicomfort.com/. They are great for retrofits since you only need to drill small holes for the freon lines and then you can have independent control of the room and will definitely get the temp where you want it.
