fanboys rejoice, there really is an ipad

Looks like an iPod that was dropped in water and it expanded ;) Have they mentioned the price?

Watching now too. I had forgotten it was today until your post.

No price mentioned yet. But the unveiling isn't over yet.

PRICES - not as bad as I thought!

So for $499 for a sexy iPad why would anyone want to buy a Vidabox at $2599 (no offense) or buy an ELO Touchscreen and separate computer?

I'm not an apple fan boy, but I do think the iPad's and Joo Joo's are bad news for the traditional computer-in-a-wall players.

Still no flash on the iPad, no concurrent running programs, etc.

I agree that this does help the automation community (especially the DIY community) by reducing the entry price for a nice sized "all in one" type touch screen. But don't kid yourself into thinking it replaces a computer completely. I agree however that certainly for a lot of automation type tasks, the iPad would make a good, realitively inexpensive alternative.

But 3g would be really nice ;) Probably not worth the $30 a month data fee if you were only using it for automation purposes. But I still love the idea of taking it on a trip and connecting with my system at home from the road.

What I really want is a iTouch with 3g capabilities and a $30/mo data plan. I have a work phone, so I don't need a $100 month voice/data/text plan!
