Fence gate control

Looking into installing a metal gate for my backyard and want to integrate the lock mechanism into my omnipro 2.  what are my options?  i see the motorized locks from schlage, yale, etc. but not sure how well they will fare in canadian winters ;)

any recommendations?

If you're talking about putting a regular z-wave front-door lock in an area fully exposed to the elements, that'll be a waste of good money.

Similar idea, but not those particular units. Maybe a strike of some sort or teledoorbell unit that can be unlocked with a code or HAI trigger. Those units will obviously not be able to withstand rain or snow, plus they can be unlocked by stretching your hand around the gate and removing the batteries ;)

Maglock for outdoor.

Just make sure it's not the only form of egress or one needed in case of fire.

Strikes, unless you build a nice dust box for them aren't suitable for wet enviroments...damp maybe, but wet no. Same goes with the amount of play, strikes are typically less tolerant of misalignment in the X/Y/Z planes.

If you do a quick search, there are loads of electronic gate locks designed for exactly what you want to do. You could install a weatherproof keypad (An HAI one or a cheaper non-HAI one) on the outside of the gate to allow local access.  On the inside, you could install a weatherproof "Press To Open" button to let you out.
