Fixing desk drawer pot metal suggestion

I have an old office desk in my home office.  One of the drawer handles broke. I looked for a replicate of the drawer handles and could not fine any.  (30's style replicate).  It is made of pot metal.

Anyone know of a service that will repair pot metal handle?

Pete -  I've never repaired pot metal, but it looks like you can repair it fairly easily.  I think if you can solder copper pipe, you can do this, too.

Tried JB Weld yet?  Could be a quick fix.

If you have another one you might be able to get someone to cast one from it.

Wow, very interesting.

Not too sure that JB Weld will work here.

May try using my hot air gun with a small tip on it, flux and solder.

I think you need to use the right kind of solder to bond with the pot metal.  Not sure if plumbing solder would work.  I've read some forums where silver solder was suggested, but I didn't find anything that said silver solder really works.

Here's the stuff that they used in the video.  Kind of on the expensive side if you need just a little.

I also came across this solder paste.  I don't know how easy that would be to use for your repair.

Thank you RAL.

Yeah the Super Alloy 1 Multi-Metal and Pot Metal Solderis a bit expensive for one time use.  That said it would probably cost that much to send it out for repair.

Found a package kit of the Washington Alloy SuperFlow Silver-Braze for around $32.

-USA 56CF - 56% silver
-1/16" diameter
-AWS A5.8 Bag-7
-Bare (not flux-coated)

Also includes 2 small jars of approx. 8 grams of black silver brazing flux each (16 grams total).
