Garage door opener question

Maybe it's a two-wire controlled system? I know my GDO (just finished installing it a few days ago) only has 2 wires feeding. The multiple levels makes sense...

Maybe I can stick a probe on the wire and operate the thing...

That was one of my concerns was being able to control the GDO, but decided it got bumped lower on my list...

I took a different approach. I already have some of the garage lights controlled with a UPB switch. Since I was already putting magnetic sensors on the doors anyway for security purposes, once I had it hooked up I just wrote a rule on my OPII that, after dark, turns on the garage lights for 10 minutes (unless they were already on) anytime either door zone becomes not ready.

Same here. You can add an inexpensive magnet to your garage door and it money is an issue you can use the inexpensive X10 powerflash interface. Then using a cheap x10 light switch and your automation package setup the logic. I personally use HomeSeer and a Z-Wave light switch. My magnet is still connected to an X10 powerflash module. From the time I poke the button to the time the lights come on is about 1 second. I had to do this because my lighting circuit burned out of my old Sears opener.
