Could really use the help of the more experienced users, as I really have no idea how to get started with Premise.

Have been out of HA for some time know, as the last i was using was Homeseer V 1.7, which worked great until the support dried up.

Have had no HA for some time now, but have been lurking here for a LONG time.

Finally decided to give Premise a try, but honestly, I don't even know how to start. I open Premise, and I'm lost!
(embarrassing I know).

Could someone point me a direction please? Need to get some basic instruction so I can at least understand how Premise works.

Honestly, am I biting off more than I can chew here?

Thanks to anyone who can be a help with this.

+1 on Wayne's suggestions. When I started using Premise, I watch all of the videos (kind of time consuming), then experimented with whatever hardware I had for practice. Initially I had no HA hardware, so I learned by experimenting with a two way rs232 driver for my a/v receiver, then slowly built up my system by adding a GC-100, X10 MR26a, X10 lighting and palm pads, Vizia RF etc...

123 also has some PDFs he put together that summarize info from the help files (posted under Premise downloads), I would study those too and a few of the modules users have contributed.

Welcome to my world! I have SLOWLY figured it out, with ALOT of help from this community. I had to figure out one thing at a time. First I built my house, then went from there. 123 does have alot of articles, modules, etc that are of help. I can attemot to help you with what I know, which actually may be good, as this way I can stay fresh with some of this stuff. The hardest part for me is scripting. I have read books, etc, but most assume that you already know some basic stuff. If I had someone explain it to me (in the premise world) I thin k I would be better at it. I took examples of modules with scripts, and then tried to adapt it to my house.

Thank you guys for the quick response.

Have to appologize for the delay, things at work are getting crazy, and before you know it, time burns by.

I will take your suggestions and watch the videos you recommended. It will be slow going, as I am not sure of myself with Premise.

When I can form a thought, I will have more questions.

Thank you very much for trying to help.

Talk soon,
Andy
