OK I hate IE7 (Things keep randomly disappearing from my dropdown list of recently visited sites) so I was thinking of trying IE8 to see if it is more stable. Trying something else, like Chrome, and getting away from IE completely sounds very appealing but I have to have activeX to view my IP cameras. Am I stuck with IE forever because of my cameras? Am I safer just reverting back to IE6 which seemed more reliable? Is there a way to use Chrome/Opera/Sarari/Firfox/whatever and still have access to the cameras?

I use FireFox with the IEtab plugin. If you run into a site that only works with IE, you just right click on the page, and select 'View Page in IE Tab'. You can also set it up so it automatically loads certain pages in an IEtab. Works great!

Try Maxthon.

It uses the IE7 engine but provides a completely different user-interface. It provides many features not found in IE7. My favourite "Super Drag&Drop". Highlight any word in the page you're reading, drag and drop it (anywhere) and Maxthon will search for this word using Google (or whatever you've set as your preferred search engine). The search results are shown in a new tab. Very handy when you encounter an undefined technical term ... highlight it, drag and drop it, view the search results. My second favourite is Undo ... like when you close a tab and later realize you want it back but can't remember the URL ... just click Undo and closed tabs are re-opened. Maxthon's developers are currently working on a new version that will support the IE8 engine.

I also use Firefox with the IETab plugin, works great. Firefox also has the search and undo recent tabs features. In FF, highlight a word on the page, right click and choose "Search Google for <selection>" Your recently closed tabs can be found under the history selection under "Recently closed tabs"

I am currently using IE8, FF3 and Chrome. Mike: You should try the IE8 beta, it actually works pretty well.

My problem with Chrome is there are no plans to integrate with Roboform which I use to store all my password info.
