HAI and Whole House Audio

I recently aquired a HAI Omni IIe. It is the older non flash updateable units. I just ordered a new firmware chip for it. My understanding is the only whole house audio system you can control from it is the HAI Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi2. Can anyone verifiy this?

IF this is the case, has anyone use the serial commands for controling a Hi-Fi to control a different system? Reaon I ask is because I purchased a NOS Hi-Fi 1 system and 3 of the 4 amplifier cars were bad. On top of that the system was, for lack of a better term, flaky. After that experence, I am reluctant to try a Hi-Fi 2.

I have some Omnitouch 5.7's comming and I would like to be able to control a least the source from the touchscreen. Ideas?

If you're going with the OmniTouch 5.7's, you might want to consider using the HTX2 module. You could control any AV equipment with that.

Thank you for the reply!

From what I have read on homeauto.com, they only mention 5.7e's, not the 5.7's. Do you have experence otherwise? if so, that would work great.

If you want to use the htx2 you will need the 5.7e, not the 5.7.

We have used hai and hifi with good results, I would not hesitate to recommend it.
