HAI Lumina 3.2d & DSC integration?

Hi,

I just got my Lumina up and running w/ DSC PowerSeries panel via serial to DSC IT-100 (standard setup). Using firmware 3.2d (latest). And everything seems to be working as far as PCA3 showing the DSC zones and reporting "NOT READY" on motion sensors/doors. But I have one issue and a question:

First, for some reason none of the DSC zones display on my OmniTouch 5.7 (it just says no named zones defined, but I do have names set for all the DSC zones!)

And second, a question: What is the proper zone type to use for a DSC door sensor, motion sensor and smoke detector?

Smoke should be trouble I guess... should doors be trouble too? and motion, auxillary?

Thanks in advance!

lupinglade,

Have you written the names from PC Access to the controller? Make sure you have a name entered and not just a description.

I would set all the DSC zones to auxiliary. The DSC is your fire/burglary system. Just use the DSC zones for automation purposes, such as hallway lighting.

Yup, Ive written the names. I can even see the zones from the iPhone app "H@me", just not on the omnitouch 5.7. Names are defined, description isn't but I believe I've tried defining a description and the zones still don't appear on the 5.7. ??? :/

I just found out the OmniTouch 5.7 wont display zones 17 and up (which happens to be where the DSC zones are). Even if I turn off DSC integration on the serial port, the named zones defined from 17 and up do not display on the OmniTouch. Can anyone from HAI help?

The DSC zones do not show up on the OmniTouch 5.7 because this interface was not designed to control the DSC system. PC Access can be used to write automation programs that reference these zones, but only Snap-Link, OmniTouch 5.7e, and OmniTouch 10p allow control of the DSC system.

But just displaying the zone status should still work no? I mean, it is not controlling the zones -- just showing the status like any other zone. Even when I turn off DSC integration the zones do not display on the OmniTouch. I'm upgrading to a 5.7e anyway, but I still think this is an odd issue.

The DSC zones overlay the zones for the hardwire expander and wireless receiver. If these aren't enabled the touchscreen doesn't see these zones as valid, so it doesn't display them. If you enable these the zones should appear, but then the state shown will be for the expander or the wireless receiver. Since the OmniTouch 5.7 doesn't know about the DSC integration, it doesn't see these zones as valid and doesn't display them even though they have names. I'll put in a suggestion to display the status of the DSC zones on the OmniTouch 5.7 in a future firmware release.

Just got the 5.7e and the zones are still not showing up. Both name and description are entered. What gives?? ;)

I believe that this is the same issue as the OmniTouch 5.7. We are looking at a change to the Lumina firmware that should fix this. Message me with your email address and I'll see if we can't get some beta firmware to you that you can try.
