HAI Omnistat2 to OmniPro2, multi-zone Geothermal

Hello, I am new to the site and new to HA. That being said, I am trying to get spun up on HA and HAI (omnipro2, HTX, HIFI2, etc) as much as I can. I have read much advice on this site and thought it be best that I finally join.
I do have a question. I am building a new home. It will have a 3 zoned, geothermal heating system, with central air, & humidifier. I will be installing Omnistat2's in each zone (upstairs, main floor, and basement). They will be wired by the HVAC guys, other than the wiring back to the OP2. I went in today and prewired, but was unsure what to run for the thermostats, so after a quick call to a "buddy", he advised that I should just run a CAT6 from the upstairs OS, to the main floor OS, to the basement OS, and back to the panel. So it is running in parallel, daisy chained, back to the panel. After getting home, I was reading on hear and it is sounding like I may only need 3 wires of the Cat6 (better too many than too little!). Can anyone on here advise exactly how this system should be wired.
My end state goals:
-to be able to control each zone from that zone's Omnistat2.
-to be able to control each zone from each Omnitouch 5.7e
-to be abel to control each zone from my iphone utilizing snap link.

So, being brand new to all this, im a little lost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

For just comm wiring of the omnistats you can use daisy chain as you described, but it would be better to run a dedicated wire to each thermostat from you controller location to insure against a single point failure. You do need only 3 wires for communication, co cat5 or 22/4 will be sufficient. Once the thermostats are connected to the controller, you can do all that you want listed in your goals.

I would defiantly pull home runs from each thermostat directly to the controller. The daisy chain will work, but is not the best for future proofing. In the future if HAI switches over the IP thermostats you will need a home run.
