C cobra Active Member May 9, 2016 #2 I'm not familiar with the original unit you mention. Is it perhaps like this? http://www.discounthomeautomation.com/HAI-Leviton-Serial-Server-LV93A001?gclid=COK_u9CMzswCFYIfhgodIaYMDQ Seems like it has functionality like you are describing. What are you trying to do with it?

pete_c Guru May 11, 2016 #7 Here run two serial lines from my OmniPro 2 panel ~ 25 feet via cat5e baluns / patch panels. (IE: Russound and for software). That said I have a few of the cat5e serial to balun set ups here and a few are a bit over 200 feet. Personally here the more you add in the transport the more you have to deal with relating to resilience. Such that the more simple the mechanism of transport the better. That said if your electric is out and your home doesn't run on batteries then its a moot point.
