HAI two-way voice module, 33a00-4--wired correctly?

I have an HAI OPII that was put in by an HAI dealer/installer a few months ago but I have only just started to play with some of its features. The installer also put in a two way voice module, along with a 33a00-4 console. When I try to use the "listen in" option on the telephone menu, I just get static.

are there any wiring diagram or any suggestions for what i should check to ensure the module and the console are wired together correctly?

i also have two 53a00-1 touchscreens. does the speaker in these units support anything more than beeps? would I be able to use the speaker for the "talk" feature of the two-way module?

also, i am planning to put in a NuVo GC and speakers for whole house audio in the next few months; how would I hook up the HAI OPII's voice output as a source for the NuVo?

Make sure that the microphone in the console is connected correctly to the two-way voice board. The microphone should be connected using shielded cable. The positive (red) side of the microphone should be connected to +MIC1 and the negative (black) side of the microphone and the shield should be connected to -MIC1.

The speakers in the 53A00-1 touchscreens cannot be used for two-way audio. You may want to consider adding 28A00-1 or 28A00-2 speaker/microphone modules near the touchscreens.

The latest version of the two-way voice board, rev. C, has a line level output jack and a trigger output for connecting to the paging input on whole house audio systems.

Thanks Brian. It looks like my installer ran a single CAT-6 wire between the OPII and the console. It looks like he wired it up the following way:

blue-white: CONSOLE 12V
blue: -MIC1

brown-white: CONSOLE GND
brown: +MIC1

green-white: CONSOLE A
green: CONSOLE B

orange-white: +SPKR1
orange: -SPKR1

obviously this unshielded wire..

is the proper way to run this to run a separate shielded 2 conductor wire specifically for the MIC connection?

or does the speaker wire need to be shielded as well?

I have a fresh OmniIIe install, and lots of static at first. The installer used unshielded cable. I saw in the instructions about the shielded cable, so we rewired the mics (I have two LCD consoles) and it made all the difference in the world. He actually used shielded cat5 the 2nd time, since that's what he had available. I don't know if different shielded cable would be even better? Be sure to heed the instructions that the shield is attached only at the voice board. You don't need shielded cable for the speakers, just the mics.

Be aware of the AGC for the mic. When the house it quiet, it gains way up and I can hear my fluorescent lights and a 12V computer fan that I have installed in a vent in a cubby hole at the end of the hallway with the cat's litter box. As soon as people start speaking, the AGC drops down and the sound is reasonable.

I just wanted to confirm: my installer replaced the mic wiring with shielded cable, and it appears to work now! Thanks!
