Hardware/Software Recommendation

Rupp,
HS talks just fine when it is connected to a UPB (which I have connected) and a Z-Wave controller. My concerns are that it isn't fine connected to the HAI Panel "Controller" of which I also have connected the thermostat, X10, UPB and Z-Wave. The panel talks fine. HS to the panel cannot control both UPB and Z-Wave.

ano - do you have some screenshots of the CQC HAI interface? I was looking yesterday but only noticed some basic stuff. Does the CQC interface work with all of the HAI plugged in devices (connectivity partners stuff?).

Well the good/bad thing about CQC is there are no "stock interfaces." So everything must be created. However, here is the CQC HAI driver page which lists all the commands that CQC uses to communicate with the HAI panel. Looking at it, it seems that it handles alarm, thermostat, lighting, and audio commands as well as allows you to speak messages, make calls, etc with the panel.

Creating the interfaces really isn't hard. Everything is point and click. It can take a little getting use to, but in the end it is infinitely customizable and therefore it is easy to get some very professional looking interfaces with it.

The HAI interface for CQC IS different than most others. Its written in C and can't be modified by users. Having said that, it does work pretty well, but Dean still needs to add a few features added in recent firmware updates. No control of audio systems that the HAI can control, or cameras, etc. but it does access most important panels items, all lighting technologies, etc.

CQC has both an Ethernet UDP polling interface and an Ethernet TCP/IP interface for firmware 3.0+ Having used both of these, AND HomeSeer's serial polling interface, I myself had lots of problems with the polling interfaces on both HomeSeer and CQC. It caused the panel timers to malfunction. No problems at all with the TCP/IP interface. And it responds instantly, unlike the polling interfaces.

Pete,
Why not connect all of your hardware directly to the HS server? It would have to speed up the processing and take a "leg" out of the path?
