HB dual counter: battery too old ?

I bought some dual counters in 2010. seems now that each time I disconnect from the 1w network, their counters are reset to 0.

Battery expired ? How can I be sure ?

Easily replacable ? Seems I need to solder. Hope not double face....
why not using a small battery plug to facilitate replacement ?

It does sound like the battery is flat.

It is soldered in but is not that difficult to replace. We didn't use any kind of plug because that would provide more places that could corrode and the battery should be able to last for many years. How do you have it connected?

The cell is soldered via 2 small pins on the pcb as stated in the manual

Strange they are flat. As I did solder myself need to check if this is well done first ...
