Hello from California

Hello everyone, I am going to be moving into our new home soon and I have been reading up and lurking in all of these forums for ideas and information to completely automate our new home. I work as a programmer and installer of fire alarm systems, so most of these installs should be simple. I plan to add a new security system that will use wireless devices, but will function with the home automation system. The previous owner said he will be removing all of the whole house speaker system, so I will need to add new speakers for all of the locations. Can't wait to get started and look forward to everyone's advice. Thanks for a great forum.

Thanks,

Robert

Welcome Robert!

One suggestion - if you like what the homeowner has installed today, make him an offer to leave it - it'll be easier for both of you! Talk him into buying new stuff and make a deal based on the time you'll save him and the opportunity he'll have to start new. I hate seeing people rip something out just to have the next tenant/owner have to put it back - it's a waste of effort on both sides!

What part of CA?

Thanks Work2play, although once we were allowed to view the house, the owner already had pulled more than half of the speakers out and was placing a blank plate. But because we are purchasing a home through a short sale, that was almost 3 months ago. I live in Covina, right now, but our house we are purchasing is in Eastvale in Riverside County. Thanks again

Robert
