hi fellas. i'm new; just starting into HA. still deciding on the unit. every time i get set into something, i find a system that interest me more.
x10 -> micasa -> homeseer     ... ->crestron
cant decide.

If you want DIY, you can rule out Crestron.

I use CQC and really like it.  There are some very distinct differences between it and Homeseer.  So if you have looked at Homeseer but haven't looked at CQC, you might want to take a look to compare the two.
 
Feel free to ask questions or PM me if you want some of the differences between the two.
 
Good luck with the journey! It's certainly fun, but also frustrating at time too.
