Hey all. I'm new to the site. I'm interested in automation, mostly for the home theater. I was going to start with some x10 modules, but the more I read, the bigger and better I want to go. Any advice? (Money is an object)

Welcome to CT!

Check out the links in my signature in order to get a quick view of the most interesting topics. I would definitely avoid X10, and research Z-Wave, Insteon and UPB as a solution. Both Insteon and UPB are powerline based (like X10), but Z-Wave is wireless.

What exactly do you want to automate?

I'm thinking of going with a small z-wave network. I want to be able to control the power, lighting and a screen masking system in my home theater. I'm thinking a z-wave network and an ipad with HomeSeer will work.

Eventually, i'd like to integrate the automation with the functionality of my pronto remote. e.g. Power on the projector and components, dim the lights, and play a movie.

I have a fairly complex home theater system and I would like to simplify it so others can use it.
