HIFI II by HAI Sound Quality

What is the sound quality/volume of the HIFI II by HAI? Should i be concerned that it only outputs 25w per speaker (50w per zone)?

Also, what is the sound quality/volume of a source connected to a Remote Input Module (RIM) on a HIFI?

Thanks.

I've never heard it, but I know the system is sourced from Nuvo, so it's probably OK.

Nuvo Essentia, IIRC, is 20 watts per channel.  Nuvo GC is 40 watts.

Where are you located?  Automated Outlet might have one set up in their showroom or classrooms.  Similarly, Worthington/ASIHome might have something you could listen to.

If you're considering a pro install, talk to some local HAI dealers for a demo.

I have Hi-Fi 2, it works just fine with in-ceiling speakers, and also with a theater amp on a variable out zone. I also have russound CAV, and the sound quality is comparable. The remote module looses source volume somewhat on large runs, but I still have enough power to use an iPhone as a source if I set the zone volume to like 90%.

picta,

what sources do you use and what interface to control it?  The metadata passthrough seems to be the challenge with that system.

The metadata path through is a challenge with any system because its source specific. If you get HAI music server or HAI iPod dock it'll pass them through. Same is true for Russound: it'll pass its own Rnet based metadata, but not the others. At the moment I use Haiku to control HiFi system and separate apps for each source to get the metadata. I have a Denon receiver as a source and it has internet radio and an associated app that allows me to control it. I use another app to control iTunes. I may consider getting iPod dock now that Haiku supports it directly. I may even ask lupinglade to add the Denon metadata to Haiku as they have been very responsive to the user requests.
