I'm in the market for a garage door opener, and one of the genie boxes I was looking at claimed it was compatible with the Homelink and Car2U "home automation systems". From what I've been able to gather online, they both seem to merely be systems that allow for an integrated in-car remote to do what the little portable remotes do. Are they anything more than that? If I could get some kind of "door opening", " door close" kind of signal out of it, then that would make it worth it....but either they don't seem to offer that capability, or they simply don't want to make it open to everyone.
