HomeLogic

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has experienced with HomeLogic systems? Currently I'm using HAI which I can do everything I need for now. Although I'd like a richer interface or more customizable one, but with the built-in options, there aren't many to choose from. I know I can use MainLobby for frontend but I really don't want to go through the hassles again. I had Homeseer and MainLobby before I got HAI, but it was a pain to make sure everything is setup right, let alone all the updates and bugs....

I came across this HomeLogic and looks like it "can" integrate well with HAI, but the interface looks nicer and I can integrate more with it. Just thought if anyone else experienced it?

I believe they charge you for every option you want to use including remote access.... though I could be wrong, never used them.

If you want to integrate with your HAI, have you looked at Cortexa? They've been going through some staffing changes but it looks like they're done with that and it should be interesting to see what they come up with now.

Hi,

I have HomeLogic which I installed and configured myself. My system is connected to an ELK M1 but the HAI setup is similar. HomeLogic is not about super fancy custom interfaces. You do have a good deal of freedom but nothing like the total control you would have with AMX or Crestron. HomeLogic is easy to configure and the stuff "out of the box" works just fine.

Anything else, fell free to ask!

Hi Frederick,

Thanks for your reply, what sort of programming you have with your HomeLogic say it's lacking from ELK M1? I'm just trying to figure out from the system level, if there's any advantage to spend on the HomeLogic aside for a nicer interface option. Or there's something else out there. I've looked into the Cortexa before, but never got deep into it.

I think the HAI is working everything I wanted to at this point, but eventually I'll be spending more to get the camera stuff integrated in, and before I spend some good bucks on touchscreens and DVR and what not, just wanted to explore into other options.

Hi,

I am not up to date on what the HAI system can do regards home automation (HA). I have an ELK M1 connected to my HomeLogic system. It would be difficult in a few paragraphs to make an complete comparison. The ELK system does advertise HA but I think you would find that the HomeLogic system supports a wider range of 3rd party hardware. For example the ELK system can have up to 7 serial ports added. The HomeLogic can have dozens, I don't know if there is an actual limit, but the network communication is TCP/IP, which means devices have a 32 bit address.

The ELK system is more DIY oriented and they have a presence on various forums. The are VERY responsive. The HomeLogic system is intended to be installed by a dealer, so while I was allowed to install and configure my own, I have to make support requests through the dealer (very nice folks) and they pass it along to the factory, so it takes a while.

I am very satisfied with my HomeLogic system. It currently is handling lighting, climate control, irrigation, AV control/distribution, security, security cameras.

Since I don't know the HAI system perhaps you can ask specific questions which would be easier to research and answer.
